Immune Modulation by Vaccines
Vaccines are powerful tools for immune modulation, adjusting the body’s immune response to provide protection against specific pathogens. By introducing antigens or antigen mimics, vaccines prime the immune system to recognize and destroy future threats more effectively. This modulation not only offers defense against pathogens but can also redirect or boost the immune response to counterbalance autoimmune conditions. Additionally, novel vaccine strategies are being developed to strengthen immune responses in populations with weakened immunity, such as the elderly. Through targeted immune modulation, vaccines can be tailored to provide optimal immunity, balancing response intensity and reducing the risk of adverse effects.
